Training

Workshops

Within each conversation pack there is a suggested methodology and some advice about how to be in a conversation group. There is also a book entitled 'Breathing Spaces' which provides comprehensive advice about how to proceed.

However, experience suggests that to make best use of the resource material and to gain confidence in accompanying conversation groups, would-be facilitators would benefit from advice and assistance in preparation.

'Shoreline Conversations'  is offering two-day workshops in different parts of the country, for those who wish to avail of this opportunity.

Facilitator Training

For those who wish to facilitate groups on a regular basis and see it as part of their own ministry to others, may wish to take a longer training process.

‘Shoreline Conversations’ offers a blended learning opportunity comprising an on-line course and a subsequent two-day workshop. Here, would-be-facilitators explore the methodology and way of being in much greater depth, refine their attitudes and skills as well as familiarising themselves with available resources.

Participants would be assigned a tutor during this training process who would be available to support and mentor participants during this learning opportunity.

Support and Mentoring

As a follow up to suitable training, we offer on-line support and mentoring for those who wish to contribute to the creation of the ‘culture of conversation’ which is part of our mission and purpose.

Should it be appropriate, the  opportunity to represent ‘Shoreline Conversations’ within a particular locality or region may then become possible.

Reference Works

Every facilitator benefits from paying attention to different voices reflecting on their experience of working with groups. Over time we will be recommending or even providing access to helpful reading on different aspects of the subject and offering some of our own reflections. Gradually this will become a set of thoughtful reminders which we hope will be of value to practitioners.

This will be in the form of articles and relevant publications – including both ‘Breathing Spaces’ and 'Walking On The Shore' by Mark Davis which is already available for purchase through this website.

For some brief notes on how to facilitate a spiritual conversation group, recognising that it is not a substitute for suitable training and experience, look at the following e-book which will get you started.
